About Coach

In school, I played baseball and tennis. After school, I mostly focused on running, which led to becoming a running coach. Once I was introduced to CrossFit (functional fitness), I was sold! I began to focus on functional exercises and let my body recover from years of running. After working out for a couple of years, I discovered that nutrition is an extremely important component of fitness and began counting macros and have been in the best shape of my life.

Turning Point

The turning point for me was recovering from PTSD. I tried everything from counseling to alcohol with negative results. That was the point that I discovered running and fitness in general and the positive impacts it has on the disease and mental health in general.

Motivation & Passion

I began coaching running when I discovered the positive impact it had on my mental health. I brought that passion with me to the Buckhannon Upshur Middle School and created/coached a running club for 2 years. I watched many students, some who had never played any organized sports, grow as students as well as athletes. I love helping people grow and get better at even the most minuscule task. I love learning new techniques, coaching and as an athlete, and sharing them with everyone. Being an athlete first, I understand what it is like to be in the group classes, the intimidation, and the motivation. I keep this in mind when coaching and will push the athletes but also understand that not every day is a good day, so it's perfectly fine to just come in and move.
