As a kid, I played several sports throughout school, but I didn't get into a regular exercise routine until college. I needed a break from nursing school and found that through running. Soon, I was signed up for 5K's, half-marathons, and before you know it a full marathon (or three). While running was my main passion, I began incorporating strength training into my routine as well. Slowly, I started to see what exercise could do for not only me but my future patients in the community. As I jumped into the world of nursing, I was taken aback by the number of chronic diseases that could be helped by behavior modification including nutrition and exercise habits. This led me to pursue my first certificate in personal training and start a career in the fitness community.
Finding exercise and using it as a stress relief was a big turning point for me. However, the biggest milestone in my health journey has been overcoming years of disordered eating and extreme exercise habits. I fell in love with healthy living to the point that I became obsessed with it. I monitored my intake too much, worked out to offset my meals, and of course, lost over 50# as a result. The issue? I didn't need to lose 50#. I ended up sick, exhausted, depressed, and controlled by food. The thing that had saved me (exercise and nutrition) had now become the thing I needed to be saved from. It has taken a lot of work, tears, and time, but I can now truly say that I am finding balance in my life and it has been the greatest turning point at all. I now know that I don't have to work out for an hour every day to love my body. I don't have to eat vegetables at every meal and follow every other nutrition rule implemented by diet society. What I do have to do is enjoy this one life I have been given, and that simply means I need to take care of myself so I can really enjoy it. Life is short. Don't waste it by hating your body. Our goal at MOVE 304 is to simply get people moving. We don't care how you look. We don't care how heavy you can lift. What we do care about is that you are equipped to get the most out of your days. To us, that starts with movement.
My passion for coaching is built around showing our members what they are truly capable of. You can move your body. You can be proud of the food you eat. You can live a life of quality, and you are worth making it happen.
